Voluntary Hazing

Formed in San José, CA, Voluntary Hazing is a fairly large ska and pop-punk band, although they occasionally experiment with disco, acoustic and other alternative sounds.

Their first full-length original record, 'Addictive Little Sounds,' was released on July 19, 2024 and is now streaming everywhere. That same night, they played an album release show at Art Boutiki to 120 people.

They previously released the covers EP 'Nobody Asked for This' and the original EP 'Crossroads.' They've played venues like Art Boutiki (SJ), Bottom of the Hill (SF), Neck of the Woods (SF), DNA Lounge (SF), 924 Gilman (Berkeley), The Bistro (Hayward), San Pedro Square (SJ), Hammer Theatre Lobby (SJ), Camino Brewing Company (SJ) and more.

Their music is written, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by members of the band. They write about everything from existentialism to crossword puzzles, working to incorporate serious emo overtones with zany horn music.

The group began as friends in the San José State University marching band. Each member has been classically trained, but they decided to try something different and play rock music with their horns.
